It was actually one short point in a medium sized thread and we were
unbelievably busy at the time, so apologies.
I hope to find time to update a 'Roadmap' page (if I can first work
out how to link between wiki pages on BitBucket, which seems not to be
documented anywhere!). But in any event the plan is to tackle this
AFTER our 2.7 minor release, which will hopefully be next week, or
worst case just after Easter.
The 'globals' mostly involve the paragraph parser and the PDF metrics
info. Unfortunately the latter is accessed by C extensions (_rl_accel
and maybe _renderPM), so it's a slightly bigger change than you think;
and if we change C extensions then it makes it a lot harder to deploy
the upgrade accurately to a bunch of pesky and
not-very-python-literate customers.
In early April, I am very happy to 'have the drains up' and deal with
this properly.
