It's not fully clear that Peter has either... ;) "Dearth" means
"shortage" or "scarcity", which is, I suspect, exactly the opposite of
what he was trying to suggest. I suspect he meant something like
"plethora" or "abundance".

And, by the way, normally I would NEVER point out something like this on
a mailing list. It's just that this thread happened to be ABOUT
writing, and the irony struck me.
