[Westchester911truth] NO unity after 9/11

Now that we're past the painful five-year anniversary of 9/11, I think it's time to get real about some things.

As one of the majority of voters who did not choose George Bush in 2000, I did not feel the now-mythic level of unity after the attacks which the press just fondly "recalled."  I'm sure there were many of us who instead felt absolute horror that a guy who had no interest in foreign policy and no expertise in statesmanship was president of the United States.

I personally thought about the oriental custom of falling on one's sword when the leader fails the people so badly.  Counterterrorism specialist Richard Clarke did the right thing two years later and publicly made the apology, "Your government failed you."  But Bush felt no remorse that he ignored the "Bin Laden to strike in the U.S." memo during his long August vacation.

Why did Bush need a vacation?  He'd been in office only 7 months.  I'm not saying the previous administration was blameless, but they did advise the incoming that terrorism must be the priority.  Yet neither Bush nor Cheney, who was placed in charge of counterterrorism, held any meetings at all.  Isn't that criminal negligence?

No, I couldn't understand people uniting behind a fool -- because surely things would get worse for our nation and the world.  And that is exactly what happened.  Even though too many Democrats have been spineless, there must be a Democratic sweep this November in order to turn our ship of state around, before we sink forever.
