In fact pdfmap was developped at the time of ReportLab 1.17 IIRC.
In recent additions I made to pdfmap, more info and a new
interesting demo will come soon I hope, transparency doesn't seem to be
supported anymore, but I've not tested with RL 1.17, only with 1.20.
Another possibility would be that when I developped pdfmap, I used
Acrobat Reader 5.0, while I use v7.0 now.
I've not verified what changed and when in RL though.
