I did it!! I downloaded the current snapshot and it worked as advertised!
BTW, is there any risk in using the snapshort in a production environment?

I also tried to get the svn repository but

$ svn co http://www.reportlab.co.uk/svn/public/reportlab/trunk/reportlab

gave me

svn: Unrecognized URL scheme
'http://www.reportlab.co.uk/svn/public/reportlab/trunk/reportlab'

(?) 

I usually run subversion with 

$ svn co svn+ssh://<repository name>

I didn't know that it (should) support the http protocol.
