Use Platypus, and put your drawings in the story. See userguide.pdf.
The graphics package should only be used to make a rectangular
drawing. Usually, people want to make a document which might
contain text, page templates, and drawings, running over several
pages. If you do this using Platypus according to the user guide,
you will never need renderPDF.py directly; you just add your charts
to the 'story'.
