If you're doing this at an industrial level or have a budget,
recent HP printers should support PDF directly, and 
you can use Microsoft TCP/IP Printing Services to make
a port you can write the PDF to, just like a socket...

I haven't done this since 1999 and have no notes but
we proved it worked then with Postsrcipt.  Use your
Windows box the way you use a Unix box and it will
be (almost) as reliable... :-)
