I am actually trying to minimize rather than maximize
the work ReportLab staff have to do to keep the Open
Source stuff going forwards ;-)

But yes, I guess that's it.  IF there are enough
volunteers and commitment and urge to move forwards
to new stuff, then it's worth branching.  We might keep
our customers on the 1.16 branch and do 1.16.1 etc for
"bugs that actually bite", not "might bite".
