It would be the last rehearsal before the summer break and we only have two relatively familiar songs to practice. I've put up recordings of the anthem for this week and next week here: http://www.awtrey.com/choir/rehearsal/ Please practice if you get a chance, or at least listen to them a few times between now and Sunday. On Sunday, please be in your seats and ready to sing at 10:30. This summer I want to do something new with our choir break. I would like to have a "Summer Choir" which means no robes, easy one or two part music, probably just familiar and favorite hymn songs. We get up and sing and then sit back down into the congregation. I'll plan out the music for July, put it in the bulletin with an invitation for the congregation and announce it Sunday morning. I hope you are willing to participate and see this as an opportunity to invite people to join us when choir resumes in August. We all know that Joyce is leaving us this Sunday and we will miss her greatly. Her service takes her in new directions and we pray God's peace and success upon her and her family. For ourselves, we have begin an accompanist search process by following good Presbyterian tradition and have formed an accompanist search committee. We are happy to have Esther Burrow as musician supply from the last Sunday in June through at least the end of July. Despite vacations and summer schedules, we hope to solicit applications and select a new accompanist by August 1st. I will keep you all informed as we go though the search process. Thank you all for your hard work and faithfulness. This has been a wonderful choir year and I look forward to our continued service to God and our congregation. As much as I wanted to be there for Joyce's husband's ordination tonight, I regret that I cannot make it. I know that those who do go will give them our love and well wishes!
