[Scons-dev] Issue 2777

I have a question on how to correctly set the version number in SCons when building a installable scons package.

I basically want to make a drop of Scons to pass around with the patch applied with a different version number so it is clear which version of SCons is being used as I validate the patch on a much larger build. ( ie Scons 2.1.0.patch or scons 2.1.0.1)

I cannot seem to find the correct documentation on how to do this.

Can someone please explain how to do this correctly, or point me to the correct documentation! Thanks!
