We went three times round the issue of SCons internals and the way Java
works a few months back, you might want to check the mailing list for
all the detailed points made. My take-away from the debate was that
SCons and Java were mutually incompatible, and that whilst SCons can
handle trivial Java projects, it will never compete with Gradle.
The issue now though is that Gradle is moving in to C and C++ building
which is where SCons is supposed to shine. If SCons cannot beat Gradle
at it's own game then Gradle, a JVM-based system, will (ironically) be
the future of C++ and D build.
