the original barcode coding was contributed by Ty Sarna, but I have been 
maintaining and improving it for a while now. As I understand it ean-5 is an 
extension to ean-13 (as is ean-8), but its structure differs somewhat. I don't 
think this would take too long, but we're flat out at present.
