This is a bug. We are obviously misprocessing the string containing
the color info and never accounted for HKS (or, more specifically,
failed to keep it invariant). Can you send us a small PDF file
of the kind you feed into PageCatcher to support@reportlab.com?

Thanks,

Subject: [reportlab-users] PageCatcher Problem

Hello List,

We are experiencing problems with data captured by pageCatcher from
various PDF-sources.
We use pageCatcher to reuse backgrounds (no simple pixel graphics) from
hand-made PDFs within
our own programmatically created PDFs.

The problem occurs e.g. with spot-colors:

The original File reads:
"HKS 13 E"

After dumping stuff with pageCatcher and loading it onto the
canvas-object,
the color has turned into
"HKS!3"

.. and the PDF has to be manually postprocessed to correct this
particular color.
Now, I'm aware that the opensource Toolkit is not capable of
pantone/hks etc.,
but I was told that dumping und reusing Elements containg spot-colors
with pageCatcher
should'nt be a problem at all.

Any Clues anyone ?

Regards,

Michael
