Verdana is NOT a Type 1 font, it is a TrueType font, as the extension clearly
indicates.

Verdana is one of the fonts Microsoft created as more attractive alternative to
Arial/Helvetica. Tahoma, Verdana, and Georgia (which is serifed) were all
specifically designed to be clearly visible at small point sizes.

Any Windows machine since 1996 will have a copy of verdana.ttf. The fonts are
redistributable in their unaltered form; if you are on a Linux box, go check
out http://corefonts.sourceforge.net to download copies of 11 of Microsoft's
best fonts (Andale, WebDings, Trebuchet, Georgia, Verdana, Comics, Arial Black,
Impact, Arial, Times New Roman, Courier New).
