Not really sure. I've installed the driver numerous times without  
difficulty. Are you able to get to the "uninstall" part of the  
installer? Perhaps try that first.

Then I'd suggest looking for components of the FTDI driver to remove  
by hand. Check ~/Library/Extensions, /Library/Extensions, and /Library/ 
Receipts.
