About GCOList

This is a list formerly connected to the GreatControversy.org (GCO) website. It is an issue-oriented forum predominantly for conservative Seventh-day Adventists. Neither GCO site or list is a forum for "bashing the church." Our goal is to uplift her, protect her, and be faithful in living and giving the third angel's message. Note that the list is essentially unmoderated. Content may not reflect list intent. Do not assume that list content represents the views of GreatControversy.org or the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Steps have been taken to maintain the integrity and usefulness of the list.

List Rules

Messages must be sent to GCOList in plain text only. Always trim list messages you are quoting from or responding to. This means just paste in the first few lines and cut off all the rest. This spares list members from wading through the same text all over again. Email must be specific to GCOList. Do not forward random email items you have received. Do not send random long cut and pasted tracts of text which you do not interact with by sharing commentary or critique. Because list traffic goes to many busy people, respect their time and energy by placing on the list items that are specifically appropriate for the list. GCOList may not be used to send spam, harvest e-mail addresses, or solicit business offers. Recruiting for personal missionary projects on list should only be made after consultation with list administration. Participation in GCOList is a privilege. GCOList is a moderated list. List administrators uphold and enforce these rules. The list is not a forum for error. Discussion is restricted on certain topics. Presently, there is a ban on the discussion of tithing. GreatControversy.org upholds both the teaching of the church that our tithes should be returned to the Lord through the Seventh-day Adventist Church organization. There is also a ban on discussion of the papal name count theory, supposedly indicating that the Second Coming must occur during the reign of the next pope after JPII. The topic of abortion is also banned. List members must comply with ALL rulings by the administrator. Disagreement with administrator rulings should be offered in a respectful, non-accusatory manner List emails are considered private communications and must not be republished on the internet. Publishing list emails on the internet will result in permanently being banned from GCOList. If you follow the teachings of Christ, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, you will get along fine. We also adopted the following as the GCOList Community Covenant: If I am present here as a non-Christian, I will seek to interact respectfully with fellow list members in a spirit such as that indicated in the following points. I come in honesty. I am not here as an unauthorized participant. I am not currently banned from lists operated by GCO. I come in integrity. I will not seek to provoke vitriol in others but to bless. I come in humility. I will work with the list administrators and will comply with their decisions. I come as a positive and not a negative. I aim by God’s grace to go forward on the pathway to the holy city. I come to copy Jesus’ character. My behavior here will reflect this. I will model converted behavior to the list. I refuse to be an independent atom. I am here representing my little stone in the larger body of Christ. I come in hot pursuit of truth! God help me follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

Using GCOList

To post a message to all the list members, send email to gcolist@two.pairlist.net. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.

Subscribing to GCOList

Subscribe to GCOList by filling out the following form (also, in the space provided, you MUST include your real name--it is not optional even though it says so). You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.
